Brooklyn Winery

April 18, 2016

Last week, we made our way over to Williamsburg to tour the Brooklyn Winery. Founded in 2010, the Brooklyn Winery is part tasting room, part bar, part winery. Co-founders Brian Leventhal and John Stires actually hail from the tech industry. Their love of wine led them to quit their jobs, and found the Brooklyn Winery in the heart of one of the city's hippest neighborhoods. The pair hired winemaker Conor McCormack to not only source the grapes for all of the winery's wine, but also make all of the wines on-site.

Conor sources grapes from the Finger Lakes, North Fork and California. The grapes are transported to the winery in temperature-controlled trucks. From there, Conor begins the winemaking process of de-stemming, fermentation, pressing, aging, blending and bottling, fully taking over the winery's small space. While the Brooklyn Winery hosts events and weddings in its beautiful space, the harvest month of October is completely off limits. All space is necessary to ensure that the wine making process can happen.

After the tour, we were lucky enough to try seven of Brooklyn Winery's offerings. From an unoaked Chardonnay to a perfectly dry Rosé to a bold Cabernet Sauvignon, we were thrilled to learn more about wine from the winemaker himself. Want to give them a try? You can order the wines here!

Special thanks to Brooklyn Winery for having us! If you're ever in the Williamsburg area, be sure to book a tour and/or grab a glass (or two, or three) of wine at the winery!
