This week we wanted to share the recipe for one of the cocktails we will be slinging from behind the bar at the Momofuku Má Pêche Besties event next Wednesday, April 23rd: the Upstate of Mind! Bourbon whiskey, riesling dessert wine, orange zest and sparkling wine; four ingredients that don't normally get uttered in the same sentence. Here, they come together in this effervescent cocktail to create a beguiling combination that keeps us coming back for one more sip.

For this cocktail we pair NY-State Ice Riesling with our favorite Bourbon, Widow Jane 7-Year Bourbon, which is made with limestone water from the Widow Jane mine in Rosendale, NY. The perfect Empire State match.

The Upstate of Mind

Makes Two Drinks

  • 8 Ounces sparkling wine (preferably Spanish Cava)
  • 1 Shot NY-State Ice Riesling (or a similar dessert wine)
  • 1/2 Shot bourbon whiskey
  • 2 orange zest twists
  1. Split the bourbon between two chilled cocktail coupes. Swirl to coat the inside of the coupes, letting any extra remain in the glasses.
  2. Split the Riesling between the two coupes.
  3. Add the sparkling wine and garnish with twists of orange zest.
