Celebrating National Rum Day With The Lime Daiquiri

Here at Mason Shaker, we have no qualms about celebrating holidays that revolve around alcohol. So when we heard that today is National Rum Day, we knew we had to craft a cocktail to commemorate the occasion. And what better cocktail to shake up than a daiquiri?

Named for the Cuban town where it was invented, the daiquiri is a rum-based drink that's simple and refreshing. Writer Ernest Hemingway was known for kicking back with the cocktail during his time in Cuba. Even JFK considered the daiquiri to be a favorite. And we don't blame him. It's hard to go wrong with the classic combination of white rum, lime and sugar.

The Lime Daiquiri
makes two cocktails

  • 3 shots of white rum
  • 2 shots of fresh lime juice
  • 4 cubes of cane sugar
  1. Muddle the sugar cubes and lime juice in the bottom of the Mason Shaker until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Add rum and ice to the Shaker, and shake for 15 seconds.
  3. Strain the mixture into two chilled coupe glasses.
