A Strong Finish to Summer: The Chile Cantaloupe Cooler

It's hard to believe that Labor Day weekend has already arrived. While the holiday marks the unofficial end of season, we're not moving on just yet. Summer has a few more days left to latch on to, and we plan on celebrating with The Chile-Cantaloupe Cooler, a festive cocktail that gets its orange hue from one of our favorite late-summer fruits - cantaloupe, and a spicy kick from dried chile peppers.

Fresh cantaloupe gets muddled with cane sugar cubes and tart lime juice in the Mason Shaker. Ketel One Vodka, dried chile pepper and ice join the mix. After a long shake, the cocktail is strained and served in two rocks glasses. Cheers to a strong finish to summer!

The Chile-Cantaloupe Cooler
makes two drinks

  • 3 shots vodka
  • 1 shot lime juice
  • 2 wedges of cantaloupe, cut into chunks
  • 2 cubes cane sugar
  • 1 dried chile pepper (plus 2 for garnish)
  • 2 rounds of lime (for garnish)
  1. Add the cane sugar cubes, cantaloupe and lime juice to the Mason Shaker.
  2. Muddle the ingredients until throughly crushed.
  3. Add the vodka and chile pepper.
  4. Add ice to above the level of the liquid, and shake for 20 seconds.
  5. Strain the mixture into rocks glasses containing large cubes of ice, and garnish with remaining lime rounds and chile peppers.
