The L Train

October 09, 2015

Named for the subway train that led directly to our original Bushwick workshop, The L Train is a lavender cocktail that's perfect for brightening up gray, drizzly city days.

At the end of each summer, we pay a visit to the Union Square Farmers Market in New York City to gather late-season lavender to dry. While drying several bunches of fresh lavender can provide you with a full supply throughout the year (and makes a room smell amazing), you can also buy dried lavender for your cocktails in many of the stores where you find other dried herbs and spices.

The L Train
Makes two drinks

  • 2 shots gin
  • 1 shot St-Germain
  • 1/2 shot fresh lemon juice
  • 2 sprigs lavender (plus 2 to garnish)
  • Seltzer
  1. Add the gin, St-Germain, lemon juice and lavender to The Mason Shaker.
  2. Add ice to just above the level of the liquid and shake vigorously for 5 seconds.
  3. Strain the mixture into chilled coupe glasses and top with seltzer. Garnish with remaining lavender sprigs.
