Homemade Vanilla Extract

Did you know that it's incredibly easy to make your own vanilla extract? Vanilla extract is a simple infusion of vanilla beans in a clear spirit like vodka. Add a little time (and patience) and you have a delicious vanilla extract to use in cooking, baking and cocktails.

Making great vanilla extract starts with high-quality ingredients. Using Madagascar vanilla beans and premium spirits will yield a truly delicious vanilla extract that will improve the flavor and aroma in your cooking and baking.

With the right ingredients in-hand, the process to make the extract is simple. Combine vanilla beans and vodka in an 8 oz Mason jar. Seal the jar and give it a shake. After that, simply let the ingredients infuse together at room temperature for 6 weeks, shaking once a week.

Homemade Vanilla Extract
makes 8 oz

  • 3 Madagascar vanilla beans, split lengthwise and again crosswise in half
  • 8 oz premium vodka
  1. Combine all ingredients in an 8 oz Mason jar.
  2. Seal and shake to combine.
  3. Allow to infuse at room temperature for 6 weeks, shaking the jar once a week. Once the infusing process is complete, you can retain the beans in the extract, resulting in an even more flavorful extract. The extract will keep at room temperature in a dark place for up to six months.
