Cold Brew and Tonic

We love cold-brew coffee, relying on its potency to get us through long days (and nights) and to kick us into gear for a Sunday brunch. Because of our obsession with the stuff, we've found ourselves experimenting with different ways to serve it. As the experiments continued, we discovered that cold brew and tonic water make a fantastic combination. It sounds weird, yes, but sparkling tonic is a great match for bold cold brew. 

Try to use cold brew concentrate, which is sold in many grocery stores as a high-strength base to mix with water. We like this one from Grady's. The tonic lightens up the strong coffee, making for a refreshing sparkling (and caffeinated) seltzer. We recently "accidentally" added some gin into our cold brew and tonic, and found that it was a seriously good addition too. Trust us. 

Cold Brew and Tonic
makes one drink

  • 1 1/2 oz cold-brew concentrate or 3 oz cold-brew coffee
  • 3/4 oz simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz gin (optional)
  • 5 oz Boylan Heritage Tonic
  • 1 lemon wheel, for garnish
  1. In a collins glass filled with ice, combine the cold brew, simple syrup and gin (if using).
  2. Add the Boylan Heritage Tonic and stir to combine.
  3. Garnish with a lemon wheel and serve immediately.
